TUNIS, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank announced on Friday it has approved an 100-million-U.S. dollar project to enhance the employability of Tunisian students and improve the quality and governance of higher education and scientific research institutions in the country.
The Strengthening Tertiary Education for Employability, Innovation, and Resilience (STEEIR) project aims to enhance academic programs by improving their quality, relevance, and accessibility in high-demand sectors, and seeks to strengthen university governance through system improvements, digital transformation, and quality assurance measures, according to a press release issued by the international financial institution.
The STEEIR project will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to meet labor market demands while supporting Tunisia's ongoing reforms to enhance university management and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry.
Alexandre Arrobbio, World Bank country manager for Tunisia, underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between higher education and the private sector for economic growth and sustainable job creation, particularly for youth and women.
He reaffirmed the World Bank's commitment to supporting Tunisia's investment in human capital, emphasizing its role in empowering individuals and driving economic participation. Enditem
