LUANDA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Angola aims to harvest more than 8,000 tonnes of commercial coffee in 2025, an increase of 2,000 tonnes from the previous year, Vasco Goncalves, director-general of the National Coffee Institute, said on Friday.
Speaking to the press in Ndalatando, the capital of Cuanza Norte Province, Goncalves attributed the rise in coffee production to increased investment by farmers and companies in the sector.
He noted that a tonne of commercial coffee is currently priced between 2 million and 3 million kwanza (about 2,192 to 3,289 U.S. dollars) on the domestic market.
According to him, Cuanza Norte Province is the country's leading coffee-producing region, followed by the neighboring provinces of Uige and Cuanza Sul. Enditem
