MEXICO CITY, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Spanish defender Sergio Ramos scored his first goal in Mexican football as Monterrey secured a 4-2 home win over Santos Laguna in the Liga MX Clausura tournament on Sunday.
The visitor took the lead in the 22nd minute through Aldo Lopez, who capitalized on Javier Guemez's headed flick from a corner to nod home from close range.
German Berterame equalized for the host on the stroke of halftime by firing into the top-right corner after combining with Gerardo Arteaga.
Ramos, making just his second appearance for Monterrey following his arrival on a free transfer in February, put his side ahead just before the hour with a bullet header following a cross from his former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Canales.
The game was played at breakneck speed and Santos Laguna was back on level terms when Bruno Barticciotto received Fran Villalba's pass before slotting his shot into the bottom-right corner.
Monterrey wrested back the lead courtesy of Canales, whose low 30-yard drive on the turn left goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo with no chance.
Arteaga put the result beyond doubt in the 94th minute as he latched onto Jesus Corona's cross by drilling a left-footed effort into the far corner.
The result leaves Monterrey ninth in the 18-team Clausura standings with 15 points from 10 outings, 11 points behind leader Leon. Santos Laguna is last with just four points so far. Enditem
