SOFIA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian authorities have seized 51.14 kg of drugs at a checkpoint near the border with Türkiye, the National Customs Agency (NCA) said in a statement on Monday.
The illicit substances, including 23.9 kg of cocaine and 27.24 kg of the synthetic cannabinoid MDMB, were discovered on Saturday in a van with a foreign registration.
The driver declared that he was transporting goods from Western Europe to Türkiye.
However, customs officers conducted an X-ray scan of the vehicle and detected areas of suspicious density. A subsequent physical inspection revealed secret compartments containing 26 packets of MDMB and 21 packets of cocaine, the NCA said.
Authorities estimated the total value of the seized drugs at about 2.46 million U.S. dollars. An investigation is underway. Enditem
