French duo Harrop/Anselmet defend mixed relay title in Morgins

MORGINS, Switzerland, March 3 (Xinhua) -- French duo Emily Harrop/Thibault Anselmet defended the mixed relay title at the 2025 ISMF World Championships here on Monday, boosting the chance to win the Olympic gold medal of ski mountaineering next year in Italy.

The pair timed 32 minutes and 44.1 seconds to finish ahead of Rodriguez Alonso/Oriol Cardona of Spain, who won the silver medal by 32:45.0, while Swiss Marianne Fatton/Robin Bussard took the bronze in 33:02.9.

The ski mountaineering will be debuted at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games. As a result, the ISMF World Championship 2025 bring together nearly 400 athletes from 34 countries and regions to compete in five disciplines - mixed relay, vertical, sprint, individual and team race.

The top two pairs qualify for the mixed relay event of the Winter Olympics next year directly, which means Harrop/Anselmet and Alonso/Cardona have already booked their berths in Milan.

Another four direct tickets to 2026 Milano will be awarded to the top two finishers in the men's and women's sprint event respectively. The competition will be concluded on March 8.

Chinese pair Zhang Chenghao/Suolangquzhen finished 13th to extend China's lead on the Asian standings. According to the rules, No.1 ranked team of every continent earn an automatic berth to the Winter Olympic Games a year later. Enditem
