MINSK, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed the economic team of the government, press service of the Belarusian leader said on Monday.
Lukashenko appointed Nikolai Snopkov as First Deputy Prime Minister who will personally supervise the economic team.
The economic team will include Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar, Minister of Antimonopoly Development and Trade Artur Karpovich, Finance Minister Yuri Seliverstov, Taxes and Duties Minister Dmitry Kiyko, Minister of Communications and Informatisation Kirill Zalessky, and Chairman of the State Property Committee Dmitry Matusevich, the press service said.
Lukashenko called the current team as "new old one". Many of them worked in the government before the presidential election so voters understood in advance with whom the president would work, he added.
The Belarusian leader outlined the economic growth in the country, including through investments, as the main task for the economic team.
The President paid special attention to the implementation of significant investment projects, including the Great Stone industrial park, the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, and the BelGee car manufacturer. He also expressed hope that new projects will emerge.
Lukashenko also appointed Vladimir Karanik, who previously held the position of the head of Grodno region, as Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, who will oversee the social sphere. Enditem
