TALLINN, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Estonia's inflation rate reached 5 percent in February, the highest among eurozone countries, according to preliminary data of Eurostat published on Monday.

Statistics Estonia reported that electricity market prices had the biggest impact on inflation in the country. In its flash estimate, the agency noted that only clothing and footwear saw a decline in prices.

Meanwhile, the eurozone's annual inflation rate slowed to 2.4 percent in February, down from 2.5 percent in January.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, Estonia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 1.2 percent year-on-year, reaching 10.6 billion euros (11.1 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Estonian Statistics Department.

The ten-quarter-long economic downturn came to an end in the fourth quarter, marking the first GDP growth since the first quarter of 2022, said Robert Muirsepp, head of the National Accounts Division of the Statistics Department.

However, the country's GDP for the entire year declined by 0.3 percent, totaling 39.5 billion euros (41.5 billion dollars). (1 euro = 1.05 U.S. dollar) Enditem
