LIMA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on Monday expressed her "total rejection" after the home of Interior Minister Juan Jose Santivanez was raided by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Local media reported that police raided Santivanez's home in La Molina district, Lima, at 5:30 a.m. local time (1030 GMT) Monday in search of evidence.

Santivanez is being investigated for alleged abuse of authority after a National Police captain, identified as Junior Izquierdo, denounced the official in 2024 via recordings delivered to the prosecutor's office.

Santivanez said on Monday that he was "strongly struck" by the fact that this marks the first time a search has been carried out in relation to a case of alleged abuse of authority.

He also questioned why the resolution that approved the raid took into account the statements of two protected witnesses without "any corroboration." Enditem
