PHNOM PENH, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia retained its economic growth projection at 6.3 percent in 2025, up from 6 percent in 2024, the country's Prime Minister Hun Manet said here on Tuesday.

The Southeast Asian nation's economy is mainly boosted by garment, footwear and travel goods exports, tourism, agriculture, and real estate and construction.

"This year's growth will be driven by the exports of garment and non-garment manufacturing products, a rise in the tourism sector and services, and a steady increase in the agricultural sector," he said in the opening speech of the Cambodia Outlook Conference 2025.

Hun Manet said real estate and construction were also expected to see positive growth this year, but at a slow pace.

According to the prime minister, the kingdom's economy was predicted to grow by around 6.5 percent annually in the medium term.

Hong Vanak, director of the international economics department at the International Relations Institute of Cambodia under the Royal Academy of Cambodia, said regional and bilateral free trade agreements have played a crucial role in supporting Cambodia's sustainable trade and economic growth in the long term.

"These free trade pacts have provided Cambodia with access to a huge market of approximately 2.3 billion people," he told Xinhua. Enditem
