COLOMBO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved the adoption of the ruling National People's Power (NPP) policy statement, "A Rich Country - A Beautiful Life," as the government's national policy framework, cabinet spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa announced Tuesday at the cabinet press conference.

Jayatissa said the policy statement aims to drive sustainable economic growth and development by strengthening the manufacturing sector, with the goal of reaching a gross domestic product (GDP) of 120 billion U.S. dollars by 2030.

The policy framework is structured around four key pillars: a fulfilling life - a comfortable country; an honorable life - a safer country; a modern life - a wealthy nation; and a dignified life - a strong country.

Within these four categories, 40 sub-areas have been identified, each with specific policy principles and action plans, he said.

All ministries, departments, state institutions, provincial councils, and local government bodies are required to align their plans and operations with this framework, he added. Enditem
