CAIRO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Egypt is set to present a 53-billion-U.S. dollar comprehensive plan for reconstructing Gaza at the emergency Arab summit on Tuesday, the state-affiliated Al-Qahera News TV channel reported.

The multiphase plan, spearheaded by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, proposes rebuilding Gaza over five years without displacing its residents, said the report.

During the early recovery phase, spanning six months, some 3 billion dollars will be allocated to address urgent humanitarian needs, such as housing demand. In this process, seven designated locations in the enclave will provide housing for more than 1.5 million displaced Gaza residents.

An independent administration committee will be formed to oversee the enclave's affairs, it added, noting the committee will consist of non-partisan technocrats and will operate under the umbrella of the Palestinian government.

Following this, a two-year reconstruction phase will focus on large-scale rebuilding efforts, with 20 billion dollars dedicated to reviving essential services, basic infrastructure, and economic stability in Gaza, the TV channel reported.

With the next stage extending to 2030, an estimated 30 billion dollars will be pooled for completing infrastructure projects, building additional housing units, and establishing industrial zones, among other goals.

According to the report, Egypt and Jordan are jointly training Palestinian police forces in preparation for deployment to Gaza.

The plan, to be presented at the summit held in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, counters a previous proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump, which suggests redeveloping Gaza and relocating Gazans to neighboring countries, including Egypt and Jordan. Enditem
