DAR ES SALAAM, March 4 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 49 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Tanzania, police confirmed on Tuesday.

In the first accident, at least five people were killed and 49 others injured on Monday night when a bus they were traveling in overturned after colliding with the rear of a truck in Chigongwe village in Tanzania's central region of Dodoma.

Acting Dodoma Regional Police Commander Anania Amo told local media on Tuesday that the accident occurred at 10:00 p.m. local time on Monday along the Dodoma-Kigoma highway.

"The bus knocked the truck from behind after the driver failed to overtake another car," said Amo, adding that the deceased were three men and two women.

In the second accident, two people were killed on the spot after a fuel tanker collided head-on with a truck in the Nane Nane area along the Dar es Salaam-Morogoro highway at 1:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, according to police. Enditem
