RIO DE JANEIRO, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Forward Vitor Roque said Tuesday he was ready and anxious to make his debut for Palmeiras after joining the Brazilian Serie A club from Barcelona.
The 20-year-old completed a medical on Tuesday, having agreed to a five-year contract reportedly worth 25 million euros (around 27 million U.S. dollars) plus performance-based add-ons.
"I'm very happy to be here. The structure is incredible, it was what I imagined given the size of the club," Roque told Palmeiras' official website.
"The expectations are very high given the challenges of the year. I hope to help my teammates as much as possible so that we can achieve great things, which is the most important thing for all of us. I'm very happy and motivated."
Roque made 16 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona, scoring twice, following his January 2024 move from Athletico Paranaense. He spent the first half of the current European season on loan at Real Betis, netting seven times in 33 matches.
"Since we signed the deal [last Friday] I've been anxious to arrive," he said. "Physically, I'm feeling great. I've been training well and now it's just a case of integrating into the squad and getting to know my teammates. If the manager [Abel Ferreira] needs me, I'll be ready." Enditem
