VIENTIANE, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry launched a Building Resilience and Reducing Rural Poverty (BRRRP) Project to strengthen resilience and alleviate hardship in local communities.

The project is designed to enhance the well-being of local populations by improving food security, supporting sustainable agriculture, and addressing the impacts of climate change, according to a report by the ministry on Thursday.

The project, funded by a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will span a five-year period (2025-2029) and be implemented across 16 districts in four provinces of Laos.

It aligned with the country's long-term development goals, including poverty reduction and community empowerment, with a special focus on vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.

The project marks a significant step in Laos' ongoing efforts to address the challenges of climate change while promoting economic growth and development in rural areas, said the report.

Through strategic partnerships and concerted efforts, the initiative is expected to provide lasting benefits and opportunities for communities in need, it added. Enditem
