FRANKFURT, March 6 (Xinhua) -- German science and technology giant Merck Group reported a return to growth in 2024, with net sales rising 0.8 percent to 21.16 billion euros (22.8 billion U.S. dollars), according to its annual financial results released on Thursday.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) climbed 5.3 percent to 5.78 billion euros, signaling a turnaround after a challenging 2023, when Merck saw a 5.6 percent decline in net sales and a 15.6 percent drop in EBITDA.

Revenue growth was driven by two of the company's three key business divisions. Healthcare sales increased by 5 percent to 8.5 billion euros and electronics sales rose 3.4 percent to 3.8 billion euros. On the other hand, life sciences sales declined by 3.9 percent to 8.9 billion euros.

Looking ahead, Merck forecasts net sales between 21.5 billion and 22.9 billion euros in 2025, underscoring its confidence in sustained growth. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollar) Enditem
