SANAA -- Four people, including a child, were killed in a landmine explosion in Yemen's western province of Hodeidah, said local medics on Thursday.

The explosion occurred Wednesday evening in the Ad Durayhimi district, south of the province, when the victims were walking along a roadside near the shore, one of the medics told Xinhua, adding that one victim died later at the hospital. (Yemen-Landmine)

MANILA -- Four people were killed in two separate residential fires that broke out Thursday morning in the Philippine capital, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

The bureau said the victims, a 55-year-old male, a 23-year-old female, and an 18-year-old female, sustained burns in the fire that broke out past 8 a.m. local time in a crowded village in Marikina City. (Philippines-Fire-Deaths)

AMMAN -- Jordan's border guard forces clashed Thursday with armed smuggler groups attempting to cross into the kingdom from Syria, resulting in the deaths of four smugglers, the Jordanian Armed Forces reported.

ULAN BATOR -- A total of 11 people were killed and 41 others injured in road accidents in Mongolia in five days, the country's traffic police department said Thursday.

"More than 50 percent of the nation's 11 traffic fatalities occurred in rural areas during the five-day holidays of the Mongolian Lunar New Year, commonly known as Tsagaan Sar or the White Moon festival," the department said. (Mongolia-Road Accidents) Enditem
