RIO DE JANEIRO, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Brazil under-20 winger Alisson Santana is poised to join Shakhtar Donetsk from Atletico Mineiro, according to Brazilian media reports.
The clubs agreed to a five-year deal worth around 14 million euros (about 15 million U.S. dollars), news outlet Globo Esporte reported on Thursday. It added that an official announcement would be made early next week following the signing of paperwork.
Shakhtar is understood to have beaten off a rival bid for the 19-year-old from English Premier League side Leicester City.
Alisson has made 42 first-team appearances for Atletico Mineiro since being promoted from the club's youth academy in January last year. He has made eight appearances and scored one goal for Brazil's under-20 team since January.
Shakhtar currently has eight Brazilians in its squad: Pedro Henrique, Vinicius Tobias, Marlon Gomes, Kevin, Eguinaldo, Newerton, Pedrinho and Kaua Elias. Enditem
