KATHMANDU, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed early Friday after a tipper truck rammed into a temporary settlement of homeless people on the outskirts of the Nepali capital.
The mishap occurred at around 3:40 a.m. local time, leaving two children and an elderly dead.
"While the children were killed on the spot, the elderly succumbed to injuries during treatment," the District Police Range Kathmandu said in a statement.
Some 60 homeless people have been residing at the roadside residence in Shankharapur Municipality.
Police arrested the driver who said the accident happened when he lost control of the vehicle, and further investigation was ongoing, police said. Enditem
