BUDAPEST, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Friday reiterated his government's push for Ukraine peace talks instead of continued military funding.
Speaking to Hungarian public radio after a one-day special European Union (EU) summit in Brussels, Orban said Hungary was the lone voice opposing further military aid to Kiev, noting that the position of the other 26 EU member states "has no rational basis."
He warned EU's financial support for Ukraine, combined with the costs of its possible EU membership, could ruin the continent's economy.
Orban also announced that Hungary would launch a national consultation to measure public opinion for Ukraine's EU membership, saying the economic stakes are too high for politicians to decide alone. Enditem
