OTTAWA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Three-quarters of Canadians are opposed to the idea of an economic union with the United States, where Canada would adopt the U.S. dollar, local media reported Friday.
According to a survey conducted by Nanos, the concept proposed would be similar to the European Union (EU), where there is free trade and free movement of people within the EU, but each nation still has control over health care, education and taxation within their borders.
A total of 65 percent of respondents were "opposed" to an economic union with the United States and adopting the U.S. dollar, while 10 percent were "somewhat opposed," said the report.
Nine percent supported the idea, while 11 percent somewhat supported it, reported CTV News.
The survey of 1,001 Canadian adults was conducted between Feb. 28 and March 5. Enditem
