Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues rise 9.4 pct in first 2 months

HANOI, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues in the first two months of this year increased 9.4 percent year-on-year to over 1.1 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (43 billion U.S. dollars), local media reported on Saturday, citing the General Statistics Office.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales rose 8.7 percent to 878.4 trillion dong (34.3 billion dollars), with sales of cultural and educational items growing 15.9 percent, food and foodstuffs rising 9.9 percent, garment and textile expanding 9 percent and home appliances increasing 6.8 percent.

In the two-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues stood at 131.1 trillion dong (over 5.1 billion dollars), up 12.5 percent, and tourism revenues were 14.1 trillion dong (551.7 million dollars), up 16.4 percent, the office said. Enditem
