SYDNEY, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Police in Australia's state of New South Wales said in a statement on Sunday that four teenagers had been charged following an alleged stabbing at a shopping center in Sydney's north.
According to the statement, emergency services responded to reports of an assault at the shopping center at about 3 p.m. local time on Saturday.
The police were told that a 21-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were approached by two teenage girls and three teenage boys who allegedly began assaulting the man. The woman was also reportedly assaulted when she came to the man's aid.
The man suffered a stab wound to the leg and had personal belongings allegedly stolen. He was treated at the scene and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The police located four of the five alleged offenders, including three 16-year-old boys and one 15-year-old girl, a short time later at another shopping center in Sydney's north. The teenagers were taken to a police station where they were charged. Enditem
