NEW DELHI, March 9 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government has added the 58th tiger reserve, officials said Sunday.

According to India's Federal Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, the latest to join the list was Madhav Tiger Reserve in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Yadav said in a statement that the development was a testament to efforts of forest officials who are selflessly working on the cause.

Officials said Madhav Tiger Reserve was the ninth tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the move, saying that "we will always be at the forefront of protecting animals and contributing to a sustainable planet." Enditem
