JAKARTA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Seven gold miners were killed, and six others sustained serious injuries after a landslide struck an illegal gold mine in Indonesia's eastern Maluku province, an official said on Sunday.
Ahmat Henaulu, head of the Buru Regency search and rescue office, said the incident occurred on Saturday when heavy rains poured down on the mine, located in Waelata sub-district in the regency.
Some of the injured suffered broken bones and serious wounds, and they were under medical treatment, Henaulu added.
He also said that the rescue office and the police are awaiting possible reports of missing persons. Enditem
