WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Secret Service reported Sunday that its agents shot a man near the White House after an armed confrontation.

NEW DELHI -- At least four laborers died of suffocation and one fell unconscious Sunday while cleaning an underground water tank in India's financial capital city of Mumbai, civic officials said.

JUBA -- South Sudan peace monitors on Sunday called for speedy investigations into the violence in Upper Nile State and the attack on a UN helicopter on Friday that led to the death of a UN personnel and dozens of soldiers.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed on Sunday that his country would not wait for any letter from the United States to lift Western sanctions.
