JAKARTA, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's state-owned energy company PT PLN has announced plans to install 3,529 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for the 2025 Eid homecoming season.
"We have analyzed and selected strategic locations to ensure travelers can easily access charging stations along their journey," said Edi Srimulyanti, PLN's director of retail and commerce, on Monday.
EV usage during this year's Eid is projected to increase by 500 percent, reaching 21,570 units, up from 4,314 units last year.
To support EV travelers, 12 mobile charging stations have been deployed along the busiest roads on Java and Sumatra, providing assistance in case vehicles run out of power.
Srimulyanti noted that PLN is committed to advancing Indonesia's EV ecosystem and ensuring a safe and comfortable homecoming experience for EV users. Enditem
