JAKARTA, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has taken steps to reduce traffic density during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming trip, boost security, and ensure smooth travel.

Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said on Monday that among the measures was the government's issuance of a policy on flexible working arrangements last week, allowing employees to work from anywhere (WFA) from March 24 to March 27.

"Due to the approval to implement WFA, we anticipate that there'll be congestion on March 21," he said.

According to him, 146.48 million people are expected to return to their hometowns to celebrate the Islamic festivity across the country, which falls on March 31.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan said on Monday that a joint-force team of 164,268 personnel, including soldiers, policemen, and staff from government institutions and ministries, would be deployed to secure the journey and ensure its smoothness.

"The joint-force team consists of 93,358 policemen, 66,714 soldiers, and personnel from ministries and institutions," he said, adding that the team would be stationed at 2,864 security posts and other mapped locations.

He also noted that the government had inspected the transportation infrastructure facilities, including land, air, and sea transport facilities. Enditem
