DAR ES SALAAM, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's weather watchdog on Monday issued an alert over enhanced rainfall in various areas of the country due to the presence of tropical cyclone Jude over the Indian Ocean in the Mozambique Channel.

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) said in a statement that Jude coincided with the onset of the 2025 rainy season over bimodal areas, as previously forecasted and communicated to the public on Jan. 31.

According to a statement, an analysis of weather systems indicated that the tropical cyclone would make landfall in Mozambique on Monday afternoon before weakening, and it was expected to re-enter the Indian Ocean and intensify between March 13 and March 15.

The statement advised sea users and the public to continue monitoring the latest weather forecasts and updates from TMA. Enditem
