KABUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-sic development and maintenance projects have been constructed and put into operation in the mountainous Ghor province in western Afghanistan, state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported Tuesday.
The projects, which cost more than 2.3 million U.S. dollars, have been launched with financial support from domestic and partner organizations, the news agency quoted a local official as saying.
Through the implementation of these projects, job opportunities have been created for about 1,000 local residents and living conditions of thousands of people in the province have improved, it said.
The Afghan interim government has planned to launch more agriculture and infrastructure projects throughout the poverty-stricken country, focusing on alleviating economic hardships and creating job opportunities. Enditem
