ISTANBUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police detained 32 suspects on Tuesday, including officials from various municipalities in Istanbul, for allegedly financing a terrorist organization, authorities announced.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the suspects had established a committee to support the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C).
Authorities revealed that the funds were allegedly obtained through corrupt tenders conducted by several district municipalities in Istanbul.
Following the issuance of arrest warrants by the prosecutor's office, police launched simultaneous operations at 31 locations across the Turkish provinces of Samsun, Bursa, Izmir, and Istanbul.
The DHKP-C, designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, has been blamed for a string of attacks in the country, including a suicide bombing at the U.S. embassy in Ankara in 2013. Enditem.
