PHNOM PENH, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia recorded 611,894 foreign visitors in January, an increase of 13.3 percent over the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday.

Thailand topped the chart, followed by Vietnam and China.

Tourism is one of four pillars supporting Cambodia's economy in addition to garment export, agriculture, and real estate and construction.

"For 2025, we hope the number of international tourists to Cambodia will increase to between 7.2 million and 7.5 million," Tourism Minister Huot Hak said in a recent speech.

He said the kingdom received 6.7 million foreign visitors in 2024, generating a gross revenue of 3.63 billion U.S. dollars and contributing about 9.4 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP). Enditem
