JAKARTA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's consumer confidence index reached 126.4 in February, indicating that consumer confidence in economic conditions remains strong, according to a survey report released by Bank Indonesia on Tuesday.

Consumers' optimism in February was driven by higher readings in the index of current economic conditions and the consumer expectations index, which reached 114.2 and 138.7, respectively, compared to 113.5 and 140.8 in the previous month, according to Denny Prakoso, head of the communication department at Bank Indonesia.

Over the next six months, consumer expectations for economic conditions are projected to remain strong, as indicated by robust expectations across all components, including income, job availability, and business activities. Their respective indices stood at 143.3, 134.2, and 138.6 in February.

Ambon, the provincial capital of Maluku, followed by Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi province, and Surabaya, the provincial capital of East Java, recorded the highest consumer expectation indices, reaching 7.0, 6.4, and 3.1 points, respectively. Enditem
