CAIRO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi reaffirmed on Tuesday that the establishment of a Palestinian state is the only solution to the ongoing conflict, rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.
"There is no resolution to this issue except through working towards upholding justice, establishing a Palestinian state, and rejecting the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land under any pretext," Sisi said during a televised speech in Cairo.
He emphasized Egypt's continued diplomatic efforts to achieve regional security and peace, highlighting the country's role as "a pivotal actor in this issue."
The Egyptian president also voiced his country's support for the Palestinian people "in their battle for survival and destiny."
Last week, Egypt hosted an emergency Arab summit on Palestine, during which Cairo proposed a three-phase, five-year, 53-billion-dollar reconstruction plan for the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, which has suffered months of conflict between Hamas and Israel.
The first phase of a fragile ceasefire agreement, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, expired on March 1. Negotiations for the next phase, which should secure a permanent ceasefire, remain stalled. Enditem
