PHNOM PENH, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The dazzling performance of Cambodia's Royal Ballet had captivated crowds of international guests at the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum in Paris over the weekend, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The Royal Ballet troupe was led by Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona, accompanied by Princess Norodom Arunrasmy and Mao Chamnan, president of the Khmer Artists Association.
Sum Mab, a secretary of state and spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, said the performance on Saturday and Sunday evenings received thunderous applause from the international audience.
"It's a pride for Cambodia as our unique classical dance, the Royal Ballet, has received strong admiration from international spectators," he told Xinhua.
Mab said the Royal Ballet performance in France was part of the ongoing cultural cooperation between Cambodia and France.
"The Royal Ballet performance reflects our efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Cambodia and France and provides an opportunity for audiences to experience the beauty of Khmer dance, with its exquisite costumes and graceful movements," he said.
The Royal Ballet was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list on November 7, 2003. Enditem
