SEOUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's flag carrier Korean Air officially launched its new corporate identity at the airline's headquarters hangar here on Tuesday, revealing a modernized version of its signature logo as well as a new livery.

This marks the airline's first major logo and livery change over the past 41 years since 1984. The move is seen as a symbol of the integration between the country's two major carriers -- Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.

In November 2020, the South Korean government announced Korean Air's proposed acquisition of Asiana Airlines to create a dominant mega carrier. The merger was completed in December last year following anti-trust approval from relevant competition authorities. The Asiana Airlines brand will be phased out from January 2027.

Korean Air also unveiled its new aircraft livery. While preserving its signature sky-blue color, the airline has introduced a newly developed paint for a metallic effect for the livery. In addition, the traditional cheatline has been removed, replaced by a smooth, flowing curve that sweeps across the fuselage.

The new corporate identity will be phased in across aircraft liveries, inflight services and key customer interaction points, according to the airline.

Walter Cho, chairman and CEO of Hanjin Group and Korean Air, said in his address that with the full integration of Asiana Airlines, the role as Korea's flagship carrier has grown even more significant.

"We will bring together our expertise, refine our strengths and unite cultures to create an innovative, unmatched airline experience," he said.

Earlier the same day, Korean Air unveiled its newly upgraded inflight meals to align with the airline's new corporate identity. These enhancements aim to elevate customers' travel experience through refined dining and service offerings. Enditem
