MANILA -- A chartered plane flew former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague in The Netherlands on Tuesday night, barely 12 hours after he was detained.

A social media post by one of his lawyers, Martin Delgra, showed a picture of a small plane that would take Duterte, 79, to The Hague. Salvador Medialdea, a close ally of Duterte, was among those who boarded the plane accompanying Duterte. (Philippines-Duterte-ICC)

ISLAMABAD -- A group of armed men opened fire on a passenger train in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, injuring several while many passengers were being held hostage, said official sources.

The Jaffar Express train with over 450 passengers onboard was heading from the country's southwest Quetta city to northwest Peshawar when the militants launched the attack in Kacchi district of Balochistan province, Muhammad Kashif, a senior official of Pakistan Railways, told Xinhua. JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia (BI) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen central banking collaboration, promote financial stability, economic strength, and sustainable growth in the region.

The deal, which was recently signed by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo and SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong, was in force for the next five years. (Indonesia-Vietnam-Banking Cooperation)

TOKYO -- Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Yoji Muto has met with U.S. officials in Washington to seek exemptions from President Donald Trump's planned tariffs on steel, automobiles, and other imports, but failed to secure assurances, local media reported on Tuesday.

Following talks with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Muto said that the officials acknowledged Japan's importance to the American economy, but did not offer guarantees regarding tariff exemptions, Kyodo News reported. (Japan-U.S.-Tariffs) Enditem
