WARSAW, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday that by 2027, Poland will have the capacity to provide military training to 100,000 individuals each year.
Speaking at the opening of a government meeting, Tusk noted that while there is no shortage of citizens willing to serve their country, current training opportunities remain limited.
He emphasized the need to expand the state's capacity to ensure that all interested individuals can participate.
"Beyond the professional army and the Territorial Defense Forces, we must effectively build a reserve army, and our actions will be directed toward this goal," he said.
At present, approximately 40,000 people complete basic military training annually as part of voluntary military service. This one-month training program serves as an introduction to operational military service.
Tusk said the government is also working on new legislation aimed at accelerating defense-related projects. Enditem
