JAKARTA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's government is targeting 6.3 percent economic growth in 2026, according to Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy on Wednesday.

Alongside this target, the 2026 Government Work Plan outlines several other key development goals, including increasing Gross National Income per capita to 5,870 U.S. dollars, reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by 37.14 percent, improving the Environmental Quality Index to 76.67, lowering the poverty rate to 6.5-7.5 percent, maintaining a Gini ratio between 0.377 and 0.380, and enhancing the Human Capital Index to 0.57.

"With high economic growth, development will be more equitable, disparities will decrease, and we hope people's welfare will improve," Rachmat said at a meeting on the 2026 Development Planning Policy Directions.

He noted that regional economic growth is expected to vary, with eastern Indonesia projected to grow by 6.1 percent, while western Indonesia is expected to achieve 7.1 percent growth.

To ensure sustainable economic expansion, the government's work plan will focus on creating jobs and enhancing productivity through various strategic programs. Among the top priorities are food and energy self-sufficiency, digitalization, and bureaucratic reform, all of which are expected to bolster economic resilience and foster long-term, inclusive growth.
