JAKARTA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- An explosion involving a tugboat and a fuel-carrying tanker near Lamongan, a coastal town in the north of East Java province, Indonesia, erupted into flames on Thursday, killing two people and injuring 15 others, according to local police.

A preliminary report indicates that the incident occurred at around 6 a.m. local time while the tanker was transferring diesel fuel to the tugboat.

Ipda M. Hamzaid, a spokesperson for the Lamongan Police, told local media that all individuals on board had been evacuated, with the two fatalities sent to a nearby hospital for further identification.

"As of now, the cause of the explosion is still under investigation. We are working to determine the triggering factors and the impacts of the incident," he said. Enditem
