KABUL, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government's national procurement commission has endorsed 252 projects worth more than 1 billion U.S. dollars during the Persian calendar year of 1403, the office of the acting deputy prime minister for economic affairs has said in a statement Thursday.

Funded by the domestic budget, these projects cover various sectors, including infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, telecommunications, electricity, water management, industry and education, the statement said.

The approved projects have provided employment opportunities for thousands of local residents, impacting them both directly and indirectly, it said.

Since assuming power in August 2021, the Afghan interim government has launched numerous development and infrastructure projects on its domestic budget across the war-ravaged country to tackle economic challenges and create job opportunities.

The Persian calendar year of 1403 starts on March 20, 2024 and ends on March 20, 2025. Enditem
