Kenya selects 10 athletes for Nanjing World Indoor Championships

NAIROBI, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Athletics Kenya on Thursday selected ten athletes, five men and five women, to represent the East African country at the 2025 World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China which begins next week.

Headlining the list are the 2024 Paris Olympians Lilian Odira and Vivian Chebet who will run in the women's 800m event. Odira, the national women's 800m outdoor champion, will be making her World Indoors debut and her second outing in Kenyan colours after making the team for last year's Summer Games. Chebet returns for her second successive World Indoors after finishing fourth last year in the women's 800m final in Glasgow, Scotland.

Noah Kibet, the 2022 World Indoor silver medalist will spearhead the corresponding men's 800m team in the event which will be held from March 21-23.

The list also includes 2023 African 800m silver winner Alex Ngeno and Collins Kipruto, among others.

Five officials will accompany the team to Nanjing including Osaka 2007 world women's 800m champion Janeth Jepkosgei. Enditem
