BAKU, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that negotiations on the text of the draft Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations with Armenia have been concluded.
In a statement, the ministry noted with satisfaction that the negotiation process has reached its end, but reiterated that constitutional amendments from Armenia to eliminate territorial claims against Azerbaijan are a prerequisite for signing the agreement.
Speaking to journalists, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov confirmed the completion of the negotiation process. "Recently, the Armenian side accepted Azerbaijan's proposals on those unresolved issues and conveyed them to us through communication channels. Therefore, we can note that the work on the text has been completed."
The Foreign Ministry statement also stressed the importance of formally abolishing the OSCE Minsk Group, describing it as an obsolete structure.
"We are ready to continue the bilateral dialogue on these and other issues related to the normalization process between the two countries," the ministry added. Enditem
