TOKYO, March 14 (Xinhua) -- The disapproval rate for Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's cabinet rose 4.0 percentage points from the previous month to 44.1 percent in March, the highest level since the launch of his administration in October last year, according to a Jiji Press survey.

The approval rate, meanwhile, fell 0.6 percentage points to 27.9 percent, the opinion poll showed Thursday.

The survey, conducted over the four days through Monday, covered 2,000 people aged 18 and older across the country with valid responses at 59.3 percent.

When asked about the reason for supporting Ishiba's cabinet, 11.8 percent of respondents, the largest group, said there is no one else suitable to be prime minister.

The most common reason for disapproving of the Cabinet, cited by 27.1 percent, was that it is not promising. Enditem
