YANGON, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 49 kg of heroin blocks in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, the state-run daily Myanma Alinn reported on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Kengtung township in Shan state on March 11, and seized the narcotics, the report said.

The confiscated narcotics are worth 735 million kyats (about 0.35 million U.S. dollars) on the black market, and a suspect was arrested in connection with the case, it said.

On the same day, police seized 3,000 stimulant tablets and arrested a suspect in Tachileik town in Shan state, it added.

The suspects were charged under the country's law, and further investigations are ongoing, it said. Enditem
