SEOUL, March 14 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export volume rebounded last month due to strong demand for chemical products and transport equipment, central bank data showed Friday.

Export volume index rose 2.8 percent in February from a year earlier, after tumbling 10.6 percent in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

In terms of volume, outbound shipment for transport equipment advanced 11.9 percent in February, turning around from a decrease of 19.8 percent in January.

Export volume for chemical products gained 3.8 percent last month after dropping 11.0 percent in the prior month, but those for coal, oil products, machinery and equipment declined in single digits.

Export value index went up 1.3 percent in February compared to the same month of last year, rebounding from a reduction of 10.9 percent in January.

Import volume index grew 2.4 percent in the cited month, but import value index was down 0.2 percent.

Net terms-of-trade index for goods, or a ratio of export prices to import prices, increased 1.2 percent in February from a year earlier, owing to faster fall in import prices than export prices. Enditem
