JAKARTA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is drafting new regulations on waste management to transform waste into energy sources, including electricity, a senior official said on Friday.
"Using environmentally friendly technology, we will process plastic waste through pyrolysis to produce fuel oil, bioenergy, and electricity," said Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung at his office in Jakarta.
According to Tanjung, the government aims to implement waste-to-energy conversion in at least 30 major cities by 2029, with each city expected to generate around 20 megawatts of electricity.
This initiative is part of Indonesia's broader effort to achieve 100 percent waste management by 2029. Enditem
