India's forex reserves rise to nearly 654 bln USD

NEW DELHI, March 14 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves increased significantly by 15.267 billion U.S. dollars to 653.966 billion dollars during the week ended March 7, showed the weekly data released by the country's central bank.

This was described as the biggest weekly gain in terms of forex reserves since 2021.

Forex reserves' key component, the Foreign Currency Assets increased by 13.933 billion dollars to 557.282 billion dollars, while the Gold Reserves rose by 1.053 billion dollars to 74.325 billion dollars.

The Special Drawing Rights increased by 212 million dollars to 18.210 billion dollars, while India's Reserve Position in the International Monetary Fund increased by 69 million dollars to 4.148 billion dollars. Enditem
