JAKARTA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (Whoosh) was gearing up for a surge in passengers during the Eid holidays in Indonesia, a 20 percent increase per day, the company PT KCIC announced Saturday.

Eva Chairunisa, general manager corporate secretary of PT KCIC, said that during the 2025 Eid transportation period, which runs from March 21 to April 11, Whoosh will operate 62 regular trips per day, up from 52 per day last year.

With the increase, daily seating capacity will rise to 37,262 seats, compared to 31,252 seats per day last year. In total, the company has prepared 808,946 seats across 1,346 Whoosh trips for the Eid holiday period, anticipating peak travel demand, particularly on April 5.

"We project that the number of Whoosh passengers during the Lebaran transportation period will increase by 30 percent, reaching up to 24,000 passengers per day," Chairunisa said in a statement.

She advised passengers to book their tickets in advance to avoid last-minute unavailability. To facilitate this, the company has extended ticket sales period, allowing passengers to purchase tickets up to 25 days before departure, instead of the previous 14-day limit.

"This policy aims to provide more flexibility and convenience for passengers in planning their travel schedules," she said, noting that around 85 percent of Whoosh passengers typically purchase tickets on the day of departure.

The Eid al-Fitr celebration in Indonesia falls on March 31, and is closely associated with the tradition of homecoming, leading to a significant increase in travel activity.

To ensure security, the company has deployed 530 security officers across stations and train tracks. Additionally, 688 service officers have been assigned to assist passengers at Whoosh stations. Enditem
