ISLAMABAD, March 16 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 21 others injured when unidentified militants attacked a security forces convoy in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday, sources said.
The attack occurred in the Nushki area, where a convoy of paramilitary Frontier Corps troops was traveling along a highway, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"According to the initial investigation, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into one of the buses in the convoy, while other attackers opened fire on the other vehicles," the sources said.
The death toll may rise as several of the injured are in critical condition, the sources added.
A heavy contingent of security forces has cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the attack is underway.
The proscribed terrorist outfit, Balochistan Liberation Army, claimed the attack. Enditem
