KABUL, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The Global Environment Facility approved 9.98 million U.S. dollars to combat climate change and protect natural resources in Afghanistan, the country's National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) said in a statement on Sunday.

The fund aims to support the implementation of initiatives that promote flexible agriculture, restore degraded lands, manage national resources sustainably, increase the extent of grasslands and pastures, and develop modern irrigation systems in various parts of northern Badakhshan and eastern Kunar province, the statement added.
